The rain may have interrupted our summer, but that hasn’t dampened the spirits of the residents at our Extra Care schemes.
Last month, colleagues and residents at The Manors, Prudhoe and Weavers' Court, Alnwick helped to raise over £1,302 at their summer fairs.
The fairs were organised by Weaver’s Court’s Scheme Coordinator, Elizabeth Pratt and The Manors Assistant Scheme Coordinator, Samantha Jeavons as a way of raising money towards the residents’ fund which helps to pay for transport for trips and entertainment for the residents.
Both fairs were supported by a great selection of local stall holders and activities.
The residents at The Manors enjoyed a tombola, a football card and name the bear game and a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses and stall holders.
Stalls included Phillipa Lee’s Glass Art, Scentsy by Alice Addicts, Touch of Silver Jewellery shop, Isobel’s Bakes, and many, many more.
There was also a table dedicated to river safety run by Stella and Carl Hattersley, the parents of Robert Hattersley, a 13 year old teenager who tragically died just over a year ago after falling into a river.
The residents at Weavers’ Court ran their own raffle and tombola. The Woolly Weavers’ knit and natter group also had a stall and much fun was had on the hook a duck stall too. Our new Assistant Scheme Coordinator. Anne Smailes was also on hand to assist on the day. There were many other stalls including handmade crafts, face painting and an MS Society information stand.
Jon McDonald. Karbon Homes Head of Support Housing, said:
“We’re so impressed with all the effort that has gone into organising these fairs and how well they’ve been received by the residents.
“Events like these are great for bringing everyone together and celebrating the fantastic community spirit in these schemes. The money raised will help to ensure the residents can continue to enjoy great days out together.
“I wanted to say a huge thank you to all our colleagues who helped to make these events possible and a big well done to the everyone for raising such an impressive total.”
