We're delighted to have taken home the trophy for Best Use of Data from the Housing Digital Innovation Awards 2025.
The win recognises the development, launch and impact of our Karbon Data Quality Scorecard (KDQS), a purpose-built reporting tool that quantifies data accuracy across the Karbon Group.
Data quality is a key risk and challenge for the housing sector, so developing a robust internal control framework to ensure that we were able to monitor the quality of key data sets in the longer term is a priority.
The tool we've developed measures the quality of the data in our key systems against agreed standards and definitions, to identify gaps and accuracy issues. Since it's launch, it's been implemented in key areas such as Asset and Regeneration, People and OD, Finance, Income and Customer Services, where we've seen significant improves in our data quality and collected excellent insight which have helped formulate new projects to further improvement our data.
We've developed the KDQS in-house, rather than purchasing an ‘off the shelf’ solution. This has saved us in excess of £100,000 and means we now have a solution bespoke to our business needs and requirements which will also allow future improvements and enhancements to the solution to be made at no additional cost.
The project has also allowed helped enhance the knowledge and technical expertise of our in-house ICT team, which can be utilised in other projects across the business.
