Every year on April 22, Earth Day celebrates the start of the modern environmental movement from 1970. Earth Day aims to spread awareness and inspire action for the environment around the world.
For 2025, Earth Day's theme is Our Power, Our Planet, encouraging everyone to support renewable energy.
At Karbon, we are investing in renewable energy to make our homes more energy efficient.
In 2023-24, we did 2,487 energy-saving upgrades, cutting about 489.675 tonnes of carbon dioxide. We will collect data on the latest work soon and share it in a future report.
- Affordable new homes in North Yorkshire with solar battery storage, allowing residents to keep excess energy for later use.
- A £25 million project in Pelton, County Durham with 104 homes that meet the latest energy standards, use air source heat pumps, and have electric charging points.
- Collaborating with Durham County Council on a major mine water heating project, creating a low-carbon district heat network for 750 affordable homes.
- We're also working with RE:GEN Group to improve 267 of our homes in Hartlepool., part of an ongoing effort to make our homes energy efficient. This includes updating kitchens and bathrooms, rewiring, and heating improvements. These upgrades reduce energy usage and make homes cosy in winter, while also being better for the environment.
