If you’re looking to turn over a new leaf this autumn and learn new skills, then our Foundations for Life Team have some great courses available for you designed to help improve wellbeing, confidence and employability.
The first courses starting in October are taking place from our new state-of-the-art Foundations Skills Hub on Stanley Front Street. We're continuing to follow Covid-19 safe measures and keeping participant numbers down to ensure we have plenty of room for social distancing.
Further courses will be delivered in different venues across our geography from November.
Money works
This 4-week online programme offers practical tips and tricks to make your money work for you. Each of the 4 sessions covers topics such as budgeting, savings and price comparison, all designed to give YOU the skills to make your money go further.
After completing all 4 sessions, you will get a free food parcel and with support from our team, will complete an online Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, giving you a recognised qualification to take away.
The first course starts on Friday 3rd October, from 10am-12pm, with sessions happening on the following Fridays at the same time.
Building Emotional Resilience and Confidence
Learn to be your best self with this course that will help you become more resilient and develop skills to cope with difficult circumstances. You will also be able learn how to understand your own feelings and emotions and control the way you behave.
The first course is starting on Monday 4th October from 10am-12pm, with sessions taking place on the following Mondays at the same time.
Digital Skills for Job Seekers
The perfect job is out there for you. This course will help you find it.
Discover how to navigate and improve your knowledge of online job seeking and learn the practical digital skills you'll need to increase your opportunities of securing an interview, and develop important interview techniques with our advisors
The first course will start on Tuesday 28th September, from 10am-12pm, with sessions taking place on the following Tuesdays at the same time.

Aged 16-24 and looking to get a jump on a new career?
Our Foundations for Life Team work with local businesses to generate multiple career opportunities for Karbon Homes customers and residents.
Right now, we are recruiting for 6 roles in hospitality with the lovely folks at Burger. Eat. Shake. Repeat! across Consett & Newcastle. These are Kickstart roles, which are open to 16–24-year-olds who are unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.
These are some great opportunities if you’re looking to get into the hospitality industry, and our Foundations for Life Team will be there to help give in-work support to all successful applicants.
If you’re interested in applying, you will need Level 2 Food Safety. But don’t worry if you don’t have this qualification, our team will make arrangements to achieve it if you are a successful candidate.
