We not only invest in building at least 500 new homes every year but also in maintaining and improving our existing homes, so they remain good homes for you and your families well into the future.
All our homes meet the Decent Homes Standard – a standard that is set by the Government that all housing association homes must meet.
Our planned investment programme for 2021/22 will see a range of improvements to many of our homes. For example, we're spending over £1.2m on fitting new kitchens or bathrooms and over £3.5m on replacement boilers, windows and/or doors to improve energy efficiency. And we will continue to provide annual heating services for all our homes.
Externally, we’ll be spending more than £4m on replacing roofs and chimneys and rendering walls, and over £1.7m on grounds maintenance to keep green spaces and communal gardens in great condition. It’s also about helping new customers start off on the right foot so we’re committing £6.2m to improving and refurbishing empty homes.
And it’s not only about improving the quality of our homes but also about keeping you safe in your home. That’s why we’ll continue to invest in regular safety checks and improvements to ensure all appliances and equipment are effective and safe for you and your family.
We’ll be upgrading smoke alarms in 4,800 homes, spending more than £3.5m on fire safety-related improvements and almost £2m on electrical testing and wiring upgrades to ensure electrical installations in all our homes remain safe.
Customer feedback is key in shaping the future of our housing and we’re always looking for customers to share their views through our involved resident’s project. Last year customers shaped the design of our kitchen replacements and there’ll be more opportunities to get involved in modernising and raising standards in homes in the future – so join our involved residents by emailing: connectwithkarbon@karbonhomes.co.uk
