Karbon has been crowned ‘Employer of the Year’ at the 2022 North East Women in Business Awards (WIN Awards), recognising its driving progress towards gender equality in the workplace.
The awards highlight the best of North East women in business and celebrates those individuals and organisations who are making progress on issues that are known to affect gender equality, through strategy, policies and culture.
Di Keller, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Lead at Karbon Homes said: “It’s a fantastic accolade for Karbon to be named Employer of the Year by the North East Women in Business Awards, and formally recognises our commitment to gender equality within the organisation.
“Over the past 12 months we’ve work hard to embed an inclusive culture, promoting fully flexible working for all colleagues and creating the conditions for people to perform at their best whilst enjoying a healthy work life balance.
“We know this has had a really positive impact on our organisation. In our most recent colleague engagement survey 86% of colleagues told us they felt able to maintain a healthy work life balance and empowered to do their job effectively, and 89% told us they feel proud to work for Karbon.”
This year’s awards took place at the Gosforth Park Hotel and categories celebrated a broad spectrum of the region’s individuals and organisations, from new and small businesses, to young entrepreneurs and women in STEM.
Di continued: “We know our strength is in our diversity and it provides a strong foundation for Karbon’s success. Alongside our work internally, we’ll continue to influence and advocate for positive change in businesses across the region, within our own sector and beyond.”
