We’re thrilled to support Chester-le-Street-based Aspire Learning, Support and Wellbeing with £3,690 of funding towards their Learn Together Creche Project.
Established in 2012. Aspire offers woman only provision with the aim of removing barriers while supporting and empowering women to raise their aspirations, living the lives they want to live, free from violence and oppression.
The creche facility, which will be staffed by highly trained and enthusiastic professional early years workers, will ensure that the women who are the mothers and kinship carers of children under 5 years old will benefit from the project.
Aspire Learning Coordinator, Colleen Baker said:
“We’re committed to providing equality of opportunity and fair treatment for all at Aspire, Having these creche facilities will mean women looking after children under school age are able to attend relevant support groups appropriate to their needs.
“The services and opportunities we offer are very much needed and are fully utilised by the women who access our centre. Currently there are 746 women registered on our database, during the last 12 months all have accessed at least one form of support, wellbeing and/or learning opportunity,
“We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Karbon Homes for supporting us with the Learn Together Creche Project and helping even more women access our support.”
Aspire offer a strong support network for women in the area allowing them to learn, develop confidence, nurture talents and develop new skills. Aspire House offers a place to learn and socialise. provide a safe supportive space for women to access learning opportunities, one to one confidential support services, friendship and peer support groups, health and wellbeing initiatives.
Karbon Homes' Assistant Director of Customer and Community Engagement, Philip Pollard said:
“We hope that this funding can help extend the vital support that Aspire offers to mothers and carers of children under five.
“The Community Fund can help organisations like Aspire to grow further and continue to play an important role in shaping better and safer communities.”
