We’ve had a fantastic start to the new year with news that we’ve retained our G1/V1 status, the highest possible rating from the Regulator of Social Housing.
The news comes following the completion of an In-Depth Assessment (IDA) by the regulator, certifying that we continue to meet its high governance standards (G1) and its financial viability requirements (V1), demonstrating our financial capacity to deal with a range of adverse scenarios.
Paul Fiddaman, Group Chief Executive at Karbon Homes said: “Retaining our G1/V1 rating from the regulator is great news to start the year. The rating is the foundation for everything we do as an organisation and despite the difficult external environment around us, we’ve remained strong, viable and resilient.
“It also shows Karbon is in a strong position for the future, ready to combine a sound business head with a strong social heart to deliver our ambitious strategy and build strong foundations for even more people.”
The top-ranking judgement also includes 54North Homes, a subsidiary of the Karbon Group. 54North Homes officially launched in December 22, as a merger of two longstanding Yorkshire-based registered providers, Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association (LYHA) and York Housing Association.
To retain both the G1 and V1 ratings, we completed a detailed and thorough process that included us submitting a range of documents and evidence, interviews with our senior team, Group Board Chair and Chair of the Group Audit and Risk Committee, and an observation of a board meeting.
This IDA process gathers assurance that registered providers are meeting the expectations of the regulator’s standards and takes place over several months.
