Last month, we met up with our Stanley Area Forum where we were able to listen to their feedback and for us to tell them more about what we’re doing to create a community they can be proud of.
We know the best way to improve is to listen to feedback from our customers and work with you to act on it, which is why we've set up our Area Forums.
They are an opportunity for all customers to become involved in checking and challenging our performance and service as well as helping us focus on local issues.
At the most recent meeting of the forum, customers were able to engage with members of our Housing and Customer and Community Engagement Teams. We talked through our latest performance data in Stanley, such as average re-let times, average cost of responsive repairs and overall satisfaction with services provided. Customers also learnt about the bank of resources we’re developing for older people with Age UK and our Community Investment Team, who support community groups and initiatives in the area.
The forum gave the chance for members to question services and raise concerns. They discussed whether carpets were disposed of at the end of tenancies and the offer of furniture packs to new customers. They also had outstanding issues addressed such as on-going problems with dog fouling in the area and how we’re working with street wardens to address this issue.
Our Area Forums also includes representation from partners such as the police and groups working within the community so we can all work together to make things better.
At the Stanley Area Forum, we were joined by Elisabeth Wilson, a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). Elisabeth shared information about an open meeting residents and businesses could attend to discuss concerns such as crime and antisocial behaviour (ASB). Elisabeth also spent time explaining the ASB escalation process and listening to any concerns customers had in their community.
This is just one of the Area Forums we run in our communities. We’re regularly looking for customers to join our forums and make a vital contribution to ensuring we have communities we can all be proud of. Our Area Forums meet on a quarterly basis throughout the year, both in person and online.
