Our walking group gets out and about for National Walking Month

As part of National Walking Month and Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to share this video from our walking group Rise Up who recently went on their first group walk in over two years.

Rise Up is a great way for our supported housing customers to get outside, get active, meet people and improve their mental health. The group is lead by our Senior Support Worker David Scott, who organises trips to walking trails across the region.

Unfortunately, like so many things, Rise Up had to be put on hold for the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but we're so pleased to have it up and running (Well, walking) again.

The group visited Hamsterley Forest in County Durham at the end of April for a sunny walk in the woods and the video below will give you a snapshot of their experiences and how much they enjoyed the trip.

To find out more about Rise Up, contact David Scott by emailing david.scott@karbonhomes.co.uk.

National Walking Month takes place every May and is a great opportunity to get active and learn about where the local walks are in your area and what benefits you can feel from walking. To find out more visit Living Streets National Walking Month page.#WalkThisMay

Mental Health Awareness Week - the Mental Health Foundation started Mental Health Awareness Week 21 years ago and they continue to set the theme, organise and host the week. It has grown to become one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK and globally.  This year, they're raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental health and the practical steps we can take to address it.
