We’re committed not only to building affordable and sustainable homes but also building stronger, safer communities. This year, we are proud to participate in White Ribbon Day, a global movement that calls for an end to violence against women and girls.
White Ribbon Day, held annually on 25th November, is a time to raise awareness, challenge harmful attitudes, and take meaningful action to promote equality and respect.
What is White Ribbon Day?
White Ribbon Day is a worldwide campaign encouraging men and boys to speak out against gender-based violence and take responsibility for ending it. The day also coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, marking the start of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence globally.
· Gender-based violence affects one in three women worldwide
· While violence affects women everywhere, women and girls in certain groups - such as those living with a disability, young girls and older women - often face even greater difficulty to have their voices heard and to access support
· Too often people respond to violence by blaming or shaming the victim – for instance, for what they wore or what they did, or because they belong to a particular group, or people hesitate to offer support because it takes place in ‘private’ or among people we know
We must change the story, challenge misogyny and violence, and make sure women are heard. Women and girls everywhere should be able to access the help they need, when they need it, so we can end violence once and for all.
Our commitment
At Karbon Homes, our mission is to create spaces where everyone can feel safe, secure, and valued.
We recognise that domestic violence threatens the wellbeing of individuals, families, and entire communities. As a housing provider, we are often on the frontlines of this issue, working with people who may be at risk of or affected by domestic abuse. That’s why we are dedicated to playing our part in making change.
How we can support you
Domestic abuse can affect all members of the community regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, disability, sexuality or religion.
Every person has the right to live their life free from violence, fear, abuse of neglect. We recognise the fears of those suffering from domestic abuse and we want to help those suffering from it to be able to seek help.
If you’re experiencing domestic abuse, you can report this to us. Your information will be dealt with confidentially and sensitively. You don’t have to face your problems alone.
You can contact us by calling 0808 164 0111, send us an email at domestic.abuse@karbonhomes.co.uk or you can scan here to fill in our domestic abuse referral form:
How you can support White Ribbon Day
The theme of this year’s White Ribbon Day is ‘It starts with Men’. We’re encouraging men to hold themselves accountable to women and to each other, making positive changes to stop harmful acts and become allies to women and girls.
We encourage our residents, employees, and partners to join us in supporting White Ribbon Day. You can make a difference by:
· Making the White Ribbon Promise: “I will never commit, excuse, or remain silent about male violence against women.” By taking this pledge, you are committing to challenge violence and promote respect in all aspects of life
· Calling out inappropriate language or seemingly harmless conversations, jokes and behaviour

Together, we can prevent violence against women and girls.
