Our latest Apprenticeship opportunities

Employability Day 2023 takes place on 30th June. To mark the event, we wanted to share how we're #WorkingForBetterWork by supporting our customers into work through our apprenticeship opportunities.

If you're looking for a new challenge, a change in direction or a way back into work or your first ever job, then our apprenticeship programme could be the answer.

Our apprenticeships have no age limit and they’re open to all ages and what’s better, they’re only open to you, our customers.

As Charlotte Carpenter, Director of Growth and Business Development, says: “We want to help our customers to lead successful, independent lives, so it only felt right that these opportunities should be kept for the people we’re striving to support. But it’s a two-way thing. By employing our customers and tapping into their experience of living in our homes, we also learn how to be a better landlord.”

There are loads of benefits to the programme, including flexible working hours, 26 days paid holiday and a chance to study whilst gaining valuable experience.

Ask the apprentice

Marc Cooper is about to qualify as an electrician after completing a four-year apprenticeship at Karbon.

What did you do before your apprenticeship?
I was working for a maintenance company when I saw the advert. I’d always wanted to be an electrician so I knew it was a good opportunity to make that happen. I knew I had a better chance of getting it because it was only open to people living in a Karbon home.

What does your job involve?
I do electrical installations, repairs, maintenance and safety testing. It’s quite varied because I get to work in new builds as well as preparing empty homes for people to move into. I go to college a day a week where I learn the theory and then I put it into practice on the job.

How have you found the experience?
It’s been a good experience and Karbon is a good place to work. I feel supported and never rushed or under pressure. I’d definitely encourage others to use the apprenticeship route to do something new.
