Fix it
Our wellbeing activity is focused on areas that colleagues have told us are important to them, as you can see in the infographic. Each theme is supported by a senior leader at Karbon.
We're also delighted to share that we have been awarded the ‘Continuing Excellence’ award as part of the Better Health at Work Award.
Having already achieved ‘Gold’ level, the Continued Excellence award recognises the importance of organisations, like ours, sustaining the progress they’ve made, encouraging us to use our experience to support others.
The assessors were really impressed with the contribution of our Health Advocates and Mental Health Allies along with the overall approach we take to colleagues’ wellbeing.
Our Mental Health Allies are on hand to be a point of contact to offer reassurance and signposting for anyone who may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health. They are trained in Mental Health First Aid and will provide a supportive and confidential 'safe space' to talk about mental health and wellbeing.
To compliment our initiatives that focus on employee well-being, we launched our Mental Health Allies programme back in 2022 where colleague volunteers from across the organisation are being trained in how they can support their fellow colleagues’, as well as customers they come into contact with, with their mental wellbeing.
Attending sessions delivered by Mental Health in Business (MHIB) the cohort of mental health allies learn about the fundamentals of mental health, mastering how to listen without judgment, recommend the right resources, and provide a safe space where people can be heard.
Iain Herdman, Assistant Director of People and Organisational Development, said: “Karbon’s mission is to provide a strong foundation for life. We believe positive wellbeing to be and important element of that strong foundation and are passionate about creating a culture where colleagues and customers feel supported and where colleagues feel enabled to perform at their best.
“The mental health allies programme is one way in which we're working to make conversations about mental health an everyday part of what we do, cultivating environments, both in-person and remote, where colleagues can be open with one another about how they’re feeling.”
We’ve partnered with Andy’s Man Club to offer some ‘butty and a brew’ sessions for our male colleagues throughout the year.
Andy's Man Club are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. We want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation. Here's some information taken from the Andy's Man Club website:
#ThatOneMan is our promise to you, our volunteers, our attendees and our supporters, that no matter how quickly we grow, how many awards we win, how many partnerships we strike up or how many clubs we open, we will always remain true to our original goal. To be able to provide support to #ThatOneMan in his time of need, and help him see that his tomorrow can be better than his today.

We have a number of wellbeing initiatives here at Karbon Homes.
If you find it helpful to talk you can use our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to speak in confidence to a fully qualified counsellor at a time and place to suit you.
We also have our Inclusion Hubs, these are networks of like-minded people that come together with a shared interest to support others in the group, bring their lived experience or allyship and to help develop the organisation to be more inclusive.
The Wellness Cloud is an online platform supporting you and your family with inclusion, wellbeing and parenting. There's something for everyone! Wellness Cloud is provided to all colleagues of Karbon Homes Group from the first day you join.
As well as this, last year we launched an employee programme with Headspace, a global leader in mindfulness and wellbeing. All colleagues have premium access to Headspace’s award-winning mindfulness and sleep app, for you to download onto a personal device for free.
