Karbon Homes is a registered provider of affordable housing, building managing and looking after homes for people across the North East and Yorkshire.

Although our head office is based in the North East, our York based subsidiary 54North Homes manages our homes in Yorkshire. 54North have existing homes in Whitby and Scarborough with housing officers working locally who know the area well. Together Karbon and 54North have delivered a number of similar new homes developments to this one across North Yorkshire, including a completed site in Staithes.

Karbon Homes is working with North Yorkshire County Council, the Hawsker cum Stainsacre Parish Council and the North York Moors National Park to identify potential affordable housing development sites to help address the shortage of sustainable affordable homes in rural areas.

As this will be classed as a rural exception site (as defined in the government’s National Planning Policy Framework) any homes delivered will be retained as affordable housing in perpetuity, secured by the planning permission.

There will also be local connection criteria enforced in the planning permission, so when the new homes are allocated, priority will be given to those who can demonstrate a strong local connection to the Hawsker cum Stainsacre parish.
